rokaplay and Firechick have confirmed a release date for Super Dungeon Maker on Nintendo Switch.
This 2D pixel art dungeon editor has taken inspiration from “the best 2D adventure games in the world,” and will let you choose how many levels, boss fights, items and hidden objects you want to have placed in your creation.
“We’re big fans of classic Zelda titles and we loved what Nintendo did with Super Mario Maker, so we wanted to offer a similarly user-friendly creation tool for top-down action-adventure games of the 16-bit era,” explains Firechick co-director and artist Linda Treffler. “We’ve been over the moon about some of the user-created levels that have come out so far on Early Access, so we can’t wait to see what other wonderful creations players will make with the full game!”
rokaplay head of communication Adrian Kaiser adds: “What Firechick has done with Super Dungeon Maker is nothing short of amazing. The ease of use, array of options, and charming presentation offers an immaculate execution of an evergreen idea. We were inspired by classic Nintendo games, so being able to create our own adventures has our inner child jumping for joy!”
The publisher has outlined the game’s key features, which include:

There are many different ones, for example, action-packed ones, Metroidvania-like, puzzle and even some in the new and trendy difficult kaizo style!
- Create & Play your own Dungeons: Create your very own dungeons in the controller-friendly editor mode and let your creativity run wild! Build as many rooms with enemies as you want, hide them behind breakable walls, fall through floors or change your dungeon theme seamlessly.
- Share your Dungeons with your friends or community: You can share the Dungeons you create with your friends, family and the whole community over the world! Make the journey more difficult with countless traps and hidden spikes. A perfect game for all streamers and content creators
Super Dungeon Maker will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 3rd May 2023.
