Unknown Worlds Entertainment has announced that Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero have now released on Nintendo Switch.

“We’d like to thank all the players who have been with us since Subnautica, and the early access days of Below Zero for making this franchise a success and helping Below Zero get to what it is today,” explains Unknown Worlds Entertainment president Ted Gill. “Below Zero grew immensely throughout the development process and new players will find an incredible world to explore, filled with surprises for old and new players alike.”

After crash landing on an alien ocean planet in your Life Pod, Subnautica will challenge you to dive underwater to explore kelp forests, plateaus, reefs and winding cave systems. You will need to find water, food and resources to develop the equipment required to descend even deeper.

Whether crafting knives, lights, diving gear or personal watercraft, your ultimate goal is to uncover the mystery behind the planet that you now find yourself on.

In the sequel Subnautica: Below Zero you will find yourself in an arctic region of planet 4546B. Posted to a research station on the planet’s surface to study alien artifacts, disaster soon strikes and you must improvise to survive.

That will once again see you construct habitats, scavenge for resources, hunt for food and craft equipment as you explore snow-covered peaks and navigate treacherous ice floes on the ocean’s surface.

Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero is now available at retail and on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
