Ripstone and Auroch Digital have collaborated with Modiphius to release Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics: The Forest of Fear on Nintendo Switch, a World War II-themed strategic role-playing game in which you control an army of Allied heroes.
Trapped behind enemy lines where they are trying to uncover and stop a terrifying Nazi plot, the game draws on the award-winning Achtung! Cthulhu roleplaying universe where the Nazis turn to otherworldly mythical beings to bolster their war effort.
The game has an innovative combat system that has been built around light versus darkness, where Allied characters will find solace in the light whilst the opposing Nazi army hide in the shadows. Whereas an intricate momentum system will encourage you to think about your long-term plan to overthrow the Nazis, with each successful action building momentum for you and opening new tactical attacks – such as a rake of machine gun fire or a fast snap-shot with a pistol.
“It’s a real honour to work alongside Modiphius and Ripstone on what will be a premium Cthulhu-mashup,” explains Auroch Digital design director Tomas Rawlings. “Having worked with the Ripstone team before back in the PlayStation 3 days, together we made amazing strategy games, and I’m confident history will repeat itself!”
Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics: The Forest Of Fear will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch in 2018.
