After being inadvertently leaked ahead of schedule, Disney Infinity 3.0 has today been confirmed as Game Informer’s June cover reveal.

The magazine’s 16-page cover story reveals Avalanche Software is back at the helm, with Ninja Theory working on Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars Starter Pack’s Twilight of the Republic Play Set. This will take place after Star Wars: Episode II, and will trace Anakin and Ahsoka’s adventures as they battle their way to discover who’s created a new droid army. Promising land and space battles with melee combat thrown into the mix, separate Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Darth Maul figures will also be compatible.

Meanwhile, Studio Gobo have crafted the Star Wars: Rise Against the Empire Play Set which will follow the events of the classic trilogy. That makes way for Luke, Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca and Darth Vader figures, with levels drawing on memorable battles on Yavin, Hoth and Tatooine.

Addressing criticism with Disney Infinity 2.0, Avalanche Software have worked under the hood, Ninja Theory have retuned melee combat and Sumo Digital have worked on improving driving gameplay – key considering Toy Box will boast a new kart racer mode.

Whereas later this year will see the release of a Star Wars: The Force Awakens Play Set, a Pixar’s Inside Out Play Set, and another Marvel Play Set developed by United Front Games that will add in Hulkbuster Iron Man and Ultron among others.

It isn’t all Star Wars and Marvel though, with additional Disney characters receiving their own figures including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Tron Legacy’s Sam Flynn and Quorra, Mulan and Olaf.

Disney Infinity 3.0 will release on Wii U in Europe and North America later this year.
