Aspyr has confirmed that Star Wars Episode I: Racer is now available on Nintendo Switch.

The popular LucasArts-developed racing game was based on the podracing competition seen in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

Originally released for Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color, Dreamcast and PC way back in 1999, it invites players to strap into a pod racer and compete to win on courses set across Tatooine and other planets.

There are 25 playable racers that include Anakin Skywalker, Sebulba and Ratts Tyerell, with the chance to work with pit droids to upgrade your podracer to reach higher top speeds and acceleration.

“Get ready to start your engines because one of the galaxy’s most dangerous races is on with the launch of Star Wars Episode l: Racer,” enthuses Aspyr vice president of publishing Elizabeth Howard.

“Now on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 for the first time, we can’t wait to see fans reactions as they experience this Nintendo 64 classic on modern platforms.”

Star Wars Episode I: Racer is now available on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide priced at $14.99.
