We’re looking forward to Star Fox Zero reuniting Nintendo’s legendary team of adventurers-for-hire later this year.

Nintendo have partnered with PlatinumGames for the Wii U exclusive, although after the latest gameplay footage was shown there has been some concern surrounding the game’s somewhat simplistic graphics.

Step in Shigeru Miyamoto, who has shared that Star Fox Zero’s cartoon-inspired visual style was chosen on purpose, as “a lot of games nowadays look so realistic that they all look the same.”

It plays by Nintendo’s more colourful playbook, whether that be seen when bounding through the Mushroom Kingdom or on an adventure through Hyrule.

Star Fox Zero will release exclusively for Wii U worldwide later this year.
