Square Enix has filed a trademark for Subarashiki Kono Sekai – The World Ends With You – in Japan earlier this month.
Spotted by Gematsu, this has sparked speculation that the publisher could be preparing to reveal a return for the rhythmic action role-playing game.
Filed on Monday 1st June 2020, it comes after The World Ends With You artwork was used to help promote Anime Expo Lite, an upcoming two-day live stream event that will broadcast Friday 3rd – Saturday 4th July 2020.
Producer Tetsuya Nomura has expressed interest in creating a sequel, referring to the recent Nintendo Switch port as “starting once again” and explaining that the new scenario – A New Day – is connected to what’s next.
The World Ends With You: Final Remix is now available exclusively for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
