Square Enix are aiming big at gamescom 2014, even if there’s little for Nintendo fans to get enthused about.

Their rather robust software line-up for the Cologne-based trade fair will include the first European consumer hands-on for Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, Nosgoth, Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen and Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King.

These will all be spread across 180 hands-on stations, although it will only be rhythm-action extravaganza Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call that will sway the attention of Nintendo 3DS owners.

What will surely be a humorous event of the week is Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn director and producer Naoki Yoshida facing off against Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call producer Ichiro Hazama in their final versus gameplay battle.

This epic showdown will take place at 3pm CEST on Saturday 16th August, and concludes the successive battles that they’ve challenged each other too since E3 2014 in June. You can catch the previous action in the trailer below!
