Square Enix have inadvertently revealed that they have begun development on the next Dragon Quest game during the Niconico Super Conference 3, which took place in Chiba, Japan over the weekend.
It was series creator Yuji Horii that shared that they were “making the next” game, although the comment raised eyebrows from Dragon Quest X producer Yosuke Saito and chief planner Anzai Takashi, which made it seem like an unexpected move.
As to whether it will be Dragon Quest XI is unknown, as recent years have seen Square Enix delivering remakes and ports of past entries in the series.
