Nintendo has announced that the SplatNet service for Splatoon will permanently close on Saturday 30th September.

The stat-tracking website lets players log in with their Nintendo Network ID to check whether their friends are online, to see who they are battling with, to automatically send a tweet to let them know that they are playing, to check their weekly rank, to look at which gear and weapons they have equipped, and view the current and upcoming stages to help them strategise.

“The SplatNet service for the Splatoon game on the Wii U system will be permanently closed on September 30th, 2017,” the Squid Research Lab writes. “Online multiplayer battles will still be available, as this update only affects the SplatNet service. We sincerely thank all players for using this companion site for the original Splatoon game.”
