Despite being on sale for only three days in May, Splatoon can celebrate a successful launch in the United States having placed fifth in NPD’s software charts for the month.

The only single-platform release to chart in the top ten, it beat out competition from Call of duty: Advanced Warfare, NBA 2K15, FIFA 15 and MLB 15: The Show, with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS holding in tenth place.

In Microsoft and Sony’s continued battle, every game in the software chart saw the PlayStation 4 version outsell the Xbox One – except for Minecraft.

1. The Witcher III: Wild Hunt (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
2. Mortal Kombat X (PS4, Xbox One)
3. Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)
