The excitement that has surrounded Splatoon 2 saw the Nintendo Switch exclusive’s launch week sales narrowly miss out on topping the United Kingdom software chart.
It outperformed Splatoon on Wii U to become the third biggest ever Nintendo Switch launch in the United Kingdom but was unable to outpace Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy – the PlayStation 4 exclusive shifting just 678 copies more.
“Splatoon 2 missed out on becoming the UK’s No.1 boxed game last week by a mere 678 units,” GamesIndustry.biz publisher Chris Dring shared, to then add: “Splatoon 2’s week one is 59 percent higher than the first Splatoon.”
With Nintendo Switch consoles back in stock at retail, the week also saw Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild return to the top 10 – climbing up from 13th to 4th place, and 18th to 6th place, respectively.
