While Sonic Boom is to channel itself through a CGI animated series, it has been revealed that there is a separate Sonic the Hedgehog movie in the works.
The result of a partnership between Sony Pictures Entertainment and SEGA SAMMY Group’s Marza Animation Planet, this will apparently be a “hybrid CG-animated/live-action feature.” Written by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux, it will reunite the blue blur with similarly iconic characters from the series and unsurprisingly see him looking to stop the dastardly plans of Dr. Eggman.
The movie will be produced by Neal H. Moritz through his Original Film banner, with Marza’s Takeshi Ito and Mie Onishi aiding his efforts, while Toby Ascher serves as executive producer.
