It sounds like SEGA has big plans as they gear up to celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog’s 30th anniversary in 2021.

Tails Channel spotted an advertisement promoting the brand in Licensing Source Book Europe: Summer 2020 (Page 90 and 91), which has seen the company promise “a year of celebration – new games, digital content, events, major announcements and a tailored licensing programme.”

What “new games” await us is unclear. SEGA has remained silent about the blue blur’s next adventures this year, which is understandable given the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the world.

The company had scheduled in a “Gotta Go Fast” Sonic the Hedgehog panel at SXSW 2020 at which Sonic Team would be present, but, since the event’s cancellation, has been unable to work out how best to announce the news that it had planned to share.
