SEGA has revealed that Sonic the Hedgehog appears as a hidden, unlockable character in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD.

Rolling from Green Hill Zone all the way to Monkey Island, the blue blur has incredible speed and will change the bananas in each stage to golden rings – complete with the classic sound effects.

You will also have the chance to unlock a selection of costumes for every monkey in the game’s base cast.

The remastered Wii launch title has updated graphics, optimized control schemes, and a brand new mini-game Decathalon Mode – challenging you to complete a set of 10 mini-games in a row.

The single-player Time Attack and mini-game Decathalon Score Attack modes will also be supported with online leaderboards, letting you compete against players from around the world.

Thanks to the Wii Remote, the original Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz had challenged players to tilt, twist, roll, and jump using different motions.

While there were puzzle stages to complete, the game also had more than 50 party games to compete against friends and family in, whether that be mini-games based around ring toss, fighting aliens in space, or smacking pesky moles.

However, for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, you can expect 100 single-player stages and 10 multi-player mini-games.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD is now available for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
