SEGA of America has revealed Sonic The Hedgehog Presents: The Chaotix Casefiles, a new narrative podcast that will debut on Tuesday 27 January.
Styled after classic detective radio dramas, Chaotix Detective Agency’s Vector the Crocodile, Espio the Chameleon, and Charmy Bee must solve their biggest mystery yet.
Having looked to blend “noir-inspired intrigue with Sonic’s signature energy,” the series will star the official Sonic video game voice cast reprising their roles. That includes Roger Craig Smith as Sonic the Hedgehog, Keith Silverstein as Vector the Crocodile, Matthew Mercer as Espio the Chameleon, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Charmy Bee, with “many other fan-favourites to appear throughout the season.”
The podcast series is directed by Ian Jones-Quartey (OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes, Steven Universe), with lead writer Dan Jolley (Transformers, Dying Light, Superman), and a writers’ room with Ian Flynn and Evan Stanley. Original music comes from two-time Grammy and Tony award-winning composer Charlie Rosen, leader of the 8-Bit Big Band, with sound design and post-production for audio handled by Realm’s Fred Greenhalgh and Dan Brunelle.
Realm will manage distribution across all podcast platforms and represent the show for ad sales, having “extensive experience adapting beloved franchises into audio series and podcasts.” That includes producing Harley Quinn and The Joker: Sound Mind, DC High Volume: Batman, and Star Trek: Khan.
“Sonic the Hedgehog Presents: The Chaotix Casefiles is an exciting milestone for the Sonic franchise, allowing SEGA to expand the Sonic universe with a completely new medium,” explains SEGA Lore and Creative Strategy senior director Ryan Hamlyn. “We combined the appeal of a noir detective drama with Sonic’s fun and action-packed style, creating a fresh story that’s both true to the Sonic series and new to fans. Thanks to our collaboration with Realm, listeners can look forward to this immersive mystery adventure anywhere they get their podcasts.”

Sonic the Hedgehog Presents: The Chaotix Casefiles will be available “everywhere you get podcasts” from 27 January 2026.
