SEGA has announced that they will release Sonic Mania on Nintendo Switch, an all-new 2D experience that will celebrate the best of Classic Sonic.
Boasting 60 FPS gameplay and pixel-perfect physics, Sonic Mania will return you to the blue blur’s side-scrolling era. It reimagines iconic Zones and Acts plucked from Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles, and has also thrown in entirely new Zones with all-new Acts and boss fights.
You can play as Sonic, Tails or Knuckles to race through each Zone, putting Sonic’s new Drop Dash, Tails’ flight, and Knuckles’ climbing abilities to use as you overcome the evil Dr. Eggman’s robots.
Developed by Christian Whitehead, Headcannon, and PagodaWest Games in collaboration with SEGA of America, it would appear that Tantalus Media are behind the Nintendo Switch port, known for their work on Mass Effect 3: Special Edition and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD.
Sonic Mania will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch in Spring 2017.
