SEGA has outlined its 2023 content roadmap for Sonic Frontiers, which is now available on Nintendo Switch.

Sonic Team will support the game “with multiple content updates that will be free to all users.” The first update will introduce a Juke Box, Photo Mode and new Challenge Modes, while the second will celebrate Sonic’s birthday and add Open Zone Challenge and new Koco. Whereas the third update appears to be the most substantial, adding new playable characters and story content.

First revealed at The Game Awards 2021, Sonic Frontiers sees the iconic blue blur star in his “first-ever open-zone-inspired gaming experience” which has been led by producer Sachiko Kawamura and director Morio Kishimoto.

With the chance to explore the visually stunning, open-zone realm called Starfall Islands, you can “accelerate to new heights and experience the thrill of high-velocity open-zone freedom” – landscapes packed with dense forests, overflowing waterfalls, sizzling deserts and more.

Sonic Frontiers is now available at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
