Nintendo of America has announced that retailers will open pre-orders for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition “late this month.”

The news comes after Walmart started accepting pre-orders only to cancel each and every one of them, leaving many once again concerned about whether they will be able to get the miniaturised replica.

“We appreciate the incredible anticipation that exists for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition system, and can confirm that it will be made available for pre-order by various retailers late this month,” Nintendo of America explained.

“A significant amount of additional systems will be shipped to stores for launch day, and throughout the balance of the calendar year.”

That promise about the “significant amount” of stock that will steadily arrive in stores will hopefully provide some confidence that Nintendo has learnt its lesson after overwhelming consumer demand meant that they were unable to battle against NES Classic Edition stock shortages.
