Curve Digital and Solar Sail Games have announced that Smoke and Sacrifice will release on Nintendo Switch this month, a hand-animated survival RPG that will tell a story of motherhood and survival.
In the game, players assume the role of Sachi, a young mother who is on a quest to discover the fate of her child. It takes place in a darkly fantastical world where grotesque plantlife and animals roam and harsh societal customs rule, and, taking cues from modern survival classics, it looks to evolve the genre with its deeply personal story and complex ecosystem. That will see creatures forage, mate, breed and prey on one another to create a living world.
“We’re thrilled to announce the release date for the PC and Nintendo Switch versions of Smoke and Sacrifice,” shares Solar Sail Games co-founder, Tancred Dyke-Wells.
“Player feedback since we revealed the game has been wonderful, at shows such as EGX Rezzed and GDC as well as online. We’ve been hard at work making this is the most narratively ambitious survival game yet, creating a beautiful, hostile world for the player to explore alongside a deep, robust crafting system.”
Curve Digital publishing director Simon Byron adds: “It’s been so heartening to see Smoke and Sacrifice resonate with players since its reveal in February. Neil and Tancred have crafted an emotional and engaging experience that breathes new life into survival gameplay with its deep narrative and gorgeously realised world.”
Smoke and Sacrifice will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on May 31st priced at £19.99 (€24.99 / $24.99), with a 20 percent discount for its first two weeks on sale.
