Easy Day Studios has confirmed that their upcoming skateboarding game Skater XL will release on Nintendo Switch this July.

It has also been revealed that you will be able to play as street legends Tom Asta, Tiago Lemos, Evan Smith and Brandon Westgate, or create your own custom skater, and that a downtown Los Angeles map has been recreated in-game.

“Today’s announcements are the culmination of more than a year of focused development and we couldn’t be happier to have Tom, Tiago, Evan and Brandon as ambassadors of this journey,” explains Easy Day Studios director and co-founder, Dain Hedgpeth.

“Downtown LA is iconic to skating and we wanted to showcase it first as we gear up for launch. We spent considerable time capturing critical details to recreate its many legendary spots and look forward to players getting their hands on it in July.”

With physics-based board control and sandbox-style gameplay, the developer has used detailed motion-capture and built a custom animation system that composes real-time animations on the fly.

The board and character are under your control moment-to-moment, meaning that no two tricks or lines are ever alike.

You will be able to fully customize your character with a variety of gear, clothing, and accessories, whereas a community-created Replay Editor will let you capture, relive, and share your best moments.

Skater XL will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in July 2020.
