ININ Games has teamed up with Smallthing Studios to publish Simon The Sorcerer Origins, which is coming to Nintendo Switch.
Licensed by Adventure Soft Publishing, this is an official prequel to the fan-favourite point-and-click adventure set “a few weeks before” the original game.
Returning with a cartoon-like visual style, the developer has looked to implement “seamless real-time sequences, magic and puzzle-solving tied together with an engrossing storyline that will finally answer some important questions raised by fans from the first game.”
Simon’s original voice actors have returned in both English (Chris Barrie) and German (Erik Borner), and the legendary singer-songwriter Rick Astley will also contribute to the game’s soundtrack, with his song Together Forever.
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Simon The Sorcerer Origins to the ININ family,” enthuses ININ Games head Helmut Schmitz. “The Simon The Sorcerer series holds a special place in the history of adventure games and has been instrumental in shaping the genre. It’s a true honour to work alongside Smallthing Studios on a title that not only pays tribute to the legacy of the original games but also invites a whole new generation of players into this magical world.”
Smallthing Studios game director and founder Massy Calamai adds: “We are thrilled and moved to officially announce the collaboration between Smallthing Studios and fantastic ININ GAMES for the distribution of Simon The Sorcerer Origins, in all formats, over thirty years (1993) after its first appearance on Amiga and PC! A heartfelt thanks to all those who have and are working behind the scenes and all those who have waited in the stands. The curtain is opening.”
Simon The Sorcerer Origins will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 28 October 2025.
