Plaion and CI Games have announced that Lords of the Fallen II is in development for Nintendo Switch 2.

The developer has looked to deliver a “bolder, braver and bloodier” experience compared with its original soulslike action-RPG, building upon extensive community feedback and the lessons learned through more than 70 post-launch updates.

Its signature aggressive combat system has been improved “to feel faster, more responsive and more satisfying than ever before, with brutal executions, expanded combat abilities and visceral dismemberments.”

You can also expect “a richer and more varied world, a significantly expanded enemy roster with biome-specific factions, more dynamic boss encounters, shared-progression co-op at launch and a more immersive Umbral realm.”

Developed in Unreal Engine 5, the game is targeting a stable 30 frames per second across both Handheld and TV modes. The developer has used both Nanite and Lumen technology to achieve higher poly models and fully dynamic global illumination alongside other bespoke optimisations, thanks to “careful engineering coordination” between CI Games, Epic and Nintendo.

“Our team is hard at work to ensure Lords of the Fallen II’s signature dark fantasy world and fast, brutal combat translate directly to the Nintendo Switch 2, and we’re very happy with how the game currently looks and plays,” explains game director James Lowe.

“This marks the first time that Nintendo players will explore the realms of Axiom and Umbral, and these new Lampbearers deserve to experience the game at the best quality possible on a great platform. Thanks to the team’s work and the support from Nintendo and Epic, we’re confident it will be a fantastic way to play Lords of the Fallen II.”

The publisher has outlined the game’s key features, which include:

  • Explore A Broken World: Journey across a vast, war-torn kingdom crumbling from within, as the realms of living and dead bleed into one. From moonlit citadels to time-ravaged temples, tread carefully, for each step forward may well be your last.
  • Master Brutal Combat: Engage in intense, soulslike battles where every strike counts thanks to a fast, fluid and aggressive combat system. Whether steel or sorcery, melee or ranged, experiment with countless builds to overcome each unique enemy encounter before delivering an arena-drenching execution.
  • Battle Monstrous Bosses: Confront colossal abominations forged in a world without hope and void of mercy. Each distinct boss battle showdown will prove a gruelling test of skill, grit, and will. Though aid is at hand, should you seek it…
  • Unleash The Umbral: As bearer of the Umbral lamp, you have the ability to pass between the realms of the living and the dead, each with its own pathways, treasures, and, of course, nightmarish creatures. But even greater, darker powers await you on this journey…
  • Venture Together: Journey through Thorngar alone or alongside a fellow Lampbearer in seamless online co-op. Both players will save all mainline progression in shared campaign mode, or join a casual session to simply lend a fellow crusader a helping hand.

Lords of the Fallen II will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide in Autumn 2026.
