Pofupofu Studios has announced that Seina: A Tale of Spirits is in development for Nintendo Switch 2.
From solo developer Argyro Brotsi, this fantasy adventure game has been shaped by her travels across Japan and “her admiration for its villages, nature and traditions.” She has drawn on her personal experiences to inspire a story about companionship, kindness and small moments of peace.
Invited into a Japanese-inspired, hand-painted watercolour world that feels like stepping into a storybook, you play as Mika, who sets out on a calm, atmospheric journey into the spirit realm.
With gameplay centred around relaxed exploration and intimate discoveries, you will encounter shrines, forgotten paths and ancient dwellings that each hold memories of the world. There are secrets to uncover, friendly spirits to interact with, and environmental details to observe that will gradually reveal the world’s story, with narrative moments appearing through gestures, expressions and simple interactions rather than dialogue.
The developer has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
- Hand-painted watercolour world inspired by Japanese nature and folklore
- Relaxed exploration through warm, inviting environments
- Light, accessible puzzles suitable for all ages
- Friendly animal spirits with unique personalities
- Atmospheric, non-verbal storytelling expressed through gestures and environmental details
- A heartfelt adventure inspired by real memories from Japan
Seina: A Tale of Spirits will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide in 2026.
