SEGA is exploring whether it is possible to port Shenmue I and Shenmue II to Nintendo Switch, responding to calls from the community to bring Yu Suzuki’s pioneering games to the portable home console.

The legendary saga follows teenage martial artist Ryo Hazuki, who sets out to identify the man that murdered his father to exact his revenge.

That epic story could soon come to Nintendo Switch, which is something that those who have worked on the game would like to see.

“Shenmue has been wholly loved by all the fans, and we’re fully grateful of them. Personally, I do think… it would be nice if we can play Shenmue anywhere on Switch [laughs],” localisation director Hiroji Noguchi explained to 4Gamer.

To that, localisation producer Hideki Kasahara added: “I don’t know if we can realise it or not, but we are taking in opinions from fans. We do need some time to answer them, but I’m thinking we would like to consider it.”

Shenmue I and Shenmue II are now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC worldwide.
