SEGA confirm Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 won’t release on Wii

Disappointingly, SEGA have confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 won’t be released on Wii.

Episode 1 was previously made available through WiiWare last October when it launched, topping the WiiWare charts in the process. Yet Nintendo fans will now have to turn to other platforms to continue Sonic’s latest outing, which will hit Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Android, Windows Phone 7 and iOS Devices in 2012.

“The reason Episode I was on the Wii was because we wanted to bring the Sonic 4 saga to the widest possible audience”, explains Ken Balough, Sonic the Hedgehog 4’s Brand Manager. “Episode II unfortunately will not be coming to the Wii – for reasons most people have probably guessed, but that doesn’t mean the SEGA isn’t supporting Nintendo platforms, we have a very strong partnership and will continue to do so.”

  1. Basically just because the Wii Shop Channel is criminally ignored.
