SEGA of America has confirmed that SEGA AGES will release in Europe and North America, after news that the original series was being rebooted was shared at SEGA FES 2018 in Akihabara, Japan.

The first five SEGA AGES games will be the SEGA Master System versions of Phantasy Star and Alex Kidd in Miracle World, SEGA Genesis (or SEGA Mega Drive, for those in Europe) versions of Thunder Force IV and Sonic the Hedgehog, and a port of the original arcade version of Gain Ground.

The collection marks the first time that several SEGA games will have been officially launched in the west, with M2 behind porting them to the portable home console.

As those that have played the SEGA 3D Classics series on Nintendo 3DS will know, the Japanese developer will stay true to each game’s original form while introducing new features that bring a refreshing twist.

The first SEGA AGES games will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in Summer 2018.
