Amid the hubbub of E3 2013 comes the sad news that Secret of Mana artist Hirō Isono passed away at the end of May.

Born in 1945, he graduated from the Aichi University of Education’s fine arts department in 1968 and eventually found himself providing the main visuals for Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Adventure game, later moving on to draw illustrations for Secret of Mana and Heroes of Mana.

Rest in peace, Isono-san.
