Merge Games and Raven Travel Studios have announced that Cast of the Seven Godsends will release on Nintendo Switch this week, a game that harks back to a time when classic 2D, run ‘n gun, action shooter games ruled the arcades.
When the evil emperor Zaraaima kidnaps the infant heir to the land of Dareca, King Kandar must call upon the aid of the seven Gods as he sets out to save his son.
With four levels of difficulty, six worlds to conquer, 12 mid and end-of-level bosses, seven God-like armour sets, five basic weapons and 35 magic combat spells, the game will see you battle against the emperor’s hordes in dark woods, slimy swamps, sinister mills, infernal volcanos, snowy mountains, golden cities and demonic castles.
Each world is guarded by level bosses each sworn to bring about the king’s swift demise, but, to help him in his quest King Kandar can envoke God-given armour, wield different weapons and cast fanatical spells.
With hand-drawn pixel graphics that deliver a 16-bit look and feel, you will only need to use two buttons to shoot and jump as you look to reach one of the game’s different endings.
Cast of the Seven Godsends will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch in Europe and North America on May 3rd, priced at £9.99 (€12.99 / $12.99).
