Secret Mode and The Chinese Room have announced that their technicolour side-scrolling adventure Little Orpheus will release soon on Nintendo Switch.

Set in 1962 when NASA is trying to put a man on the moon, in a remote corner of Siberia Soviet cosmonaut Ivan Ivanovich inside his exploration capsule Little Orpheus is dropped into an extinct volcano to explore the centre of the Earth. However, he promptly vanishes and three years later returns to claim he has saved the world.

In this side-scrolling adventure, you will have the chance to explore lost civilizations, undersea kingdoms, prehistoric jungles and lands beyond your imagination in an experience that has taken inspiration from classic movies such as Flash Gordon, Sinbad and The Land that Time Forgot.

The developer has “rebuilt and remastered” its multi-award-winning Apple Arcade hit for the big screen “with hi-res textures, new moves, new animations, and enhanced graphics and effects.” It also comes to the portable home console with a bonus ninth episode, A Rush of Onion to the Head, and the Lost Recordings Mode.

“Bringing such a beloved, award-winning and acclaimed title to our PC and Console fans is something Secret Mode is super-excited to be involved in,” enthuses Secret Mode director of publishing James Schall. “Incredible craft and ingenuity of storytelling is the DNA of The Chinese Room. We can’t wait to hear and read what players think!”

Little Orpheus will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 1st March 2022.
