Ryan Reynolds Will Voice Detective Pikachu In Live-Action Movie

After news that Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton had scored the lead roles in Detective Pikachu, we now know that Ryan Reynolds will voice the investigative electric mouse in the live-action movie.

That news comes from Hollywood Reporter once again, who report that the Deadpool star has signed on to star in the live-action movie.

Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) will direct the project, which is due to start shooting in London next month.

The story will see the father of the character played by Justice Smith become kidnapped, which will see him team up with Detective Pikachu in order to find him. Kathryn Newton will play a sassy journalist who will help them in their quest.

As we have known for a while, Universal will handle the movie’s distribution outside of Japan, with Toho looking after its release in Japan.
