Clear River Games has confirmed a release date for Rushing Beat X: Return of Brawl Brothers, which is coming to Nintendo Switch 2.
From developer City Connection, this iconic beat ’em up bonanza was known as Rival Turf when it first debuted on the SNES way back in 1992.
Three decades on, the game has been re-imagined for modern audiences. Whether playing solo or with a friend, as heroes Rick Norton, Douglas Bild or the other four playable characters, you must battle to uncover the secrets behind the deadly Zeekus virus to discover the true mastermind behind its creation.
With new moves, weapons, and a new allies feature, that mission will take you from shopping malls and slums to subways and research facilities. Those new to beat ’em up experiences can rely on easy-to-use auto-combos to enjoy the action, whereas more skilled players can chain their own combos with counterattacks, follow-up strikes, and weapon-based attacks – building your gauge power to activate Rage Mode.
The publisher has outlined the game’s “modern refinements and fresh mechanics,” which include:
- Dynamic Combat Mechanics: New auto-combo support for newcomers, counterattacks, cancelable moves, and “Beat Rush” finishing manoeuvres
- Rage Mode: Build your meters to enter a heightened state, boosting attacks, speed, and unlocking devastating finishers
- Cooperative Play: Team up with a friend locally, mix character styles, synchronise combos, and strategise
- Diverse Stage Design: Battle through neon shopping districts, grimy alleys, underground railways, high-security labs, and more
- Secrets and Unlockables: Optional side missions, hidden weapons, multiple character paths, and surprise revelations
Rushing Beat X: Return of Brawl Brothers will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide on 19 March 2026.
