XSEED Games and Marvelous Europe have confirmed a release date for Rune Factory 3 Special, which is coming to Nintendo Switch.
You play as Micah, a young man with the power to turn into a golden sheep-like monster known as a Wooly. After falling headfirst into the provincial town of Sharance, a young woman rescues him and he awakens with no memories of his past and soon becomes involved in a longstanding conflict between humans and monsters.
Micah must work to build bridges between the races in the hope of restoring peace while discovering a “shocking” secret of his own.
This is “a remastered and expanded version of the classic entry in the long-running series,” which, originally released for the Nintendo DS, will have “improved graphics and redesigned 3D character models.”
You can also expect brand new content such as the Newlywed Mode, which is a set of standalone adventures unlocked after marriage to each of the game’s 11 eligible bachelorettes, Another Episode, which are fully-voiced picture stories narrated by those same characters, and a Hell difficulty level that promises to “challenge even veteran players.”
The publisher has outlined the game’s key features as below:
- An adventure spanning two worlds – Step into the shoes of Micah, a young man with amnesia and the mysterious ability to transform into a sheep-like monster, as he searches for a way for humans and monsters to coexist.
- Thrilling action RPG combat – Master swords, spears, hammers, and even magic to take on powerful monsters. Recruit townsfolk and monsters alike to explore treacherous dungeons.
- Sow the seeds of your new life – Relax after a long day of adventuring with activities including farming, fishing, and more. Discover the many varieties of Magic Seeds, which grow into strange crops that aid in your adventure in fun and exciting ways!
- Find that special someone – Meet 11 lovely bachelorettes, the most in series history! Learn more about them through daily conversations and quests, fall in love, then pop the question and get married. Before you know it, you’ll have a wonderful family to join in on your adventures.
Rune Factory 3 Special will release at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 5th September 2023.
