Rumour: The Legend Of Zelda Wii U Coming To Nintendo NX

I still find it remarkable that we haven’t heard any more about The Legend of Zelda Wii U, given that it sees release this year. With no title or premise, Nintendo has held out since we last saw it in action at The Game Awards 2014.

But, the company’s chosen silence has started to come at a cost. Emily Rogers, who accurately leaked the existence of Paper Mario: Color Splash, has now shared rumours that she has heard from multiple sources regarding Link’s anticipated adventure.

The first is that it will also see release on Nintendo NX, which, personally, doesn’t come as a particular surprise. With Wii U now lacking in momentum, I don’t think many of us could resent Nintendo for choosing to release it on their “dedicated game platform.” If true, that would see it follow similar circumstances that surrounded The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

The other rumours will met with more interest, in that players can choose between whether to play as a male or female Link and there is wider voice acting in the game. Link will remain a silent protagonist, but the accompanying cast will apparently be voiced.

While Nintendo’s exploration of their recurring hero’s gender has been clear ever since Linkle surfaced as part of developing Hyrule Warriors. Many had even thought that Link was female when The Legend of Zelda Wii U was revealed at E3 2014.

The Legend of Zelda Wii U will see release worldwide in 2016.
