Making headlines after appearances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Game Awards 2016, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has remained one of the most hotly anticipated game releases for Nintendo Switch and Wii U in 2017.

Rated in November by the Australian Classification Board, a rumour persisted that Link’s adventure would not meet the Nintendo Switch launch date, after localisation efforts had taken longer than anticipated.

Now Laura Kate Dale, who once backed the rumour, has revealed that her sources have now indicated that it is “100 percent” locked in to release alongside Nintendo Switch in North America this March.

“Contrary to my past report on Breath of the Wild release date it is 100 percent coming at Switch launch in North America in March. Have seen finalised materials,” Dale clarified on Twitter.

“No clue why EU sources say June, but in NA at least Breath of the Wild will hit Switch day one. No clue on Wii U version. Possible explanations include EU delay, or Wii U delay. More than one print magazine has their Switch issue finalised. Means certain info can now be better fact checked.

“I don’t know if this impacts any other launch day software. No clue if this pushes anything back but I’m digging for information. I don’t go back on my reports lightly, I understand it can paint a picture of hedged bets. I take that very seriously.”

The Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 will broadcast at 8pm PT (11pm ET) on Thursday 12th January or 4am GMT (5am CET) on Friday 13th January.
