Can you watch YouTube on Nintendo Switch? That’s a question that many have been asking since the portable home console’s launch, and, while the answer has been no for a long while, that may soon change next week.

Twitter user NintendHOME was browsing Nintendo of America’s website, and, sure enough, under the “You might also like…” suggestions noticed that the upcoming YouTube app had appeared as a recommendation with a Thursday 8th November release date.

Up until now, those that want to use online streaming services on Nintendo Switch have Hulu and Niconico as their only options. Back in January, Netflix was “still exploring” the potential to support the console.

When asked at E3 2018 why services like Netflix and YouTube were absent on the console, Nintendo of America president and chief operating officer Reggie Fils-Aime explained that conversations were on-going.

“When we launched the Switch, we were very clear we wanted to position the device as a game-playing device. We’ve done that, and so you’ve seen Hulu, for example, come on to the platform,” Fils-Aime had explained.

“In terms of other services, the conversations are on-going. We’ve got nothing to announce right now. But certainly, those opportunities will come in due time.”
