Nintendo has “two more unannounced Wii U ports” that are coming to Nintendo Switch, according to the latest rumour to surface online.

Well-known industry insider Emily Rogers has revealed her expectation “at least” two more Wii U ports will come to the portable home console.

Games that are headed to Nintendo Switch in the coming months include Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but Nintendo is yet to reveal more about what fans can expect for the rest of the year.

“I say this as someone who is optimistic about this year,” Rogers wrote on ResetEra.

“My only concern about 2020 is that Nintendo might lean a little too hard on re-releases of older stuff as a crutch to fill out their calendar.

“Nintendo has already officially announced Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE [Encore] and Xenoblade Chronicles [Definitive Edition] remaster/remake for this year. I can also confirm that Nintendo has (at least) two more unannounced Wii U ports. They are not difficult to guess because there aren’t many Wii U games left to port.

“Also, if you aren’t into Animal Crossing, then the first 3-4 months of 2020 won’t be super amazing for you personally. Nintendo is obviously treating Animal Crossing [New Horizons] as their big March title, so that’s something people will just need to accept.

“And as we saw with 2019, Nintendo likes to dump most of their biggest releases in the second half of the year. Which typically makes the pacing for the first half of the year slower by comparison.”

Nintendo’s previous Wii U ports have been met with success, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe selling more than 19.01 million copies and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe over 4.59 million copies.

It has been rumoured that Pikmin 3 Deluxe would release on Nintendo Switch, with the expectation that Super Mario 3D World – which was the second best-selling Wii U game with 5.83 million copies sold – will be the second game ported to the portable home console.

The other candidates would include The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, as well as games that Nintendo may want to give another shot at sales success like The Wonderful 101 and Star Fox Zero.
