With plans for the Pokémon 25th anniversary starting to be revealed, a new rumour has emerged to indicate Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl remakes are in development for Nintendo Switch and will be released as part of those celebrations.

That rumour comes from CentroPokémon whose source, who they claim is “close” to The Pokémon Company, has stated to them that the remakes will be revealed in February.

That makes sense, of course. Pokémon Day will once again be marked on Saturday 27th February 2021, meaning that we know that The Pokémon Company International must have something to share with us for the brand’s latest milestone. But, we can’t speak to the accuracy of this rumour and previous reports from CentroPokémon have frequently been called into question over their validity.

The website adds that the Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl remakes will maintain the classic gameplay that fans have come to expect from the series, rather than an effort to differentiate it as seen in games such as Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee!.

CentroPokémon has also shared that a new animated series called Pokémon Legends will soon be revealed, echoing Pokémon Generations which many will remember from the Pokémon 20th anniversary celebrations.

As to what has been officially revealed for the “year-long celebration,” the P25 Music Project will see The Pokémon Company collaborate with artists such as Katy Perry, a special video has taken a look back at 25 Years of Memories, and, earlier today, New Pokémon Snap has been confirmed to release on 30th April 2021.
