We weren’t expecting to hear about the Nintendo Switch release date until next year, when the Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 will stream worldwide.

Now, Let’s Play Video Games‘ Laura Kate Dale has heard rumblings that the console will release in PAL territories on Friday 17th March – arriving in other regions that same week.

“Being told March 17th is currently planned Switch launch day in PAL, will release worldwide that same week but not same date all regions,” Dale shared. “This is from the same source who told me about the reveal trailer date before it was official, I have reason to trust their info. Take my reports with a grain of salt obviously, but I trust the source on this info.”

She continued: “Being told Japanese launch may be a few days earlier but [the] plan is to launch in all major territories that same week. I’m aware this info clashes with the “Breath of the Wild Amiibo UK March 4th according to Nintendo UK site” info. Wii U version launch early? No idea.”

Rumours that have swirled about the home gaming system since it was revealed include that the Nintendo Switch Console can be charged with a USB-C cable, has a 6.2″ 720p multi-touch screen, and supports 128GB Micro SDXC cards, as well as that the Dock won’t support external hard drives.

Nintendo Switch will release worldwide in March 2017.
