Rumour: Nintendo NX Software Output Will “Blow Away” Wii U

With Nintendo’s fiscal year earnings release scheduled for Wednesday 27th April, we may hear this week as to when the company plan to reveal Nintendo NX.

While we patiently wait for whenever that may be, Emily Rogers has shared that the software output for the “dedicated game platform” will “blow away” that seen with Wii U.

That has largely been made possible by the internal restructuring that Nintendo underwent this past year, which Rogers attributes to “radical changes” to how the company develops and produces software.

The goal is release first-party software at a faster rate, with unannounced Wii U projects having been shifted to Nintendo NX. We had confirmation that Pikmin 4 was “very close to completion” in September last year, but that has been one game that we haven’t seen since it was mentioned by Shigeru Miyamoto.

“Based on things I’ve heard, I am 100 percent confident that the NX’s software output will blow away the Wii U’s software output (which was never impressive to begin with),” Rogers shared in a blog post. “In a single year, the NX will build a larger library of games than Wii U produced in three or four years.”

Rogers went on to outline what she has learned from sources close to Nintendo, which reinforces her belief behind such claim:

  • “The big fundamental focal point (and overall goal) behind NX is to vastly increase the software output from Nintendo’s first party teams and studios.
  • To accomplish this, the entire process of how Nintendo develops and produces software has gone through radical changes.
  • There is a new strategy that was put in place to create and release first party software at a faster rate.
  • Multiple unannounced Wii U projects were moved over to NX.
  • The NX could potentially see the highest output of first party software in the company’s history. (I’m talking about the entire lifespan of NX. Not just one or two years.)”

  1. I feel like Nintendo might just reuse models created for the Wii U to put together NX games. If Mario Kart 9 and Smash 5 don’t look considerably better, I might not be interested.

  2. Wii U graphics are very good. The Madden game that EA put out for Wii U was better than Xbox and you couldn’t tell the difference from the PlayStation version. Most of the MS and Sony games ran at slower frame rates. The best thing that Nintendo can do now is make sure it’s backwards compatible (Wii U, Wii, GameCube) and that the controllers from those systems can be used with the NX. They also need to make sure they don’t screw over their customers and continue to release DLC for the Wii U such as more everything for Mario Kart 8.

  3. I will not be buying. I feel totally shafted over witn my black brick with a diddy screen wii u.
