Now, Emily Rogers has rounded up everything that she has heard from her sources about the dedicated game platform‘s prototype, noting that the final product may differ as is always the case.
While in parts this reiterates recent rumours such as Nvidia’s involvement, the portable 6.2-inch multi-touch screen, and dock station, we also learn a few more tidbits.
The internal storage is believed to be 32GB which can be expanded with a SD Card, while the console will support Unreal Engine 4 and Unity engines. Perhaps what is most significant is the indication that the development kits and prototypes are region-free, a move that may be matched in retail units.
When the New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL were confirmed to be region-locked, fans pleaded that Nintendo would consider reverting the decision.
A response soon came from late president Satoru Iwata, who explained that their stance wasn’t “solely out of business ego” and added that “cultural acceptance and legal restrictions” were the reason as to why it remained in place.
