Rumour: Nintendo MH Is Next Handheld’s Codename

We may still be in the dark about what Nintendo NX precisely is, but Morgan Stanley Japan has published a financial report that seemingly reveals another codename – Nintendo MH.

This supposedly relates to a “next-gen handheld game device” that is in development, although Nintendo have yet to mention such plans publicly themselves.

“The driving force up until now has been new business from ‘health services, theme parks and mobile games etc,’ but will switch over to the next generation game system (NX) and next-gen handheld game device (MH (temporary name)),” the report specifies, as translated by IGN.

Kantan Games CEO Dr. Serkan Toto immediately moved to dismiss the report, writing: “That Morgan Stanley Japan note on Nintendo does NOT mean a portable console or the name ‘MH’ is confirmed. They are picturing a scenario.”

Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has openly spoken about Nintendo NX not being a direct replacement to either Wii U or Nintendo 3DS, however the console won’t be revealed at E3 2016 next month.

  1. If it is a codename I am surprised because MH for me always meant monster hunter. They are releasing the MH themed 3ds soon so could it be that? Also I have been predicting for about a year that Nintendo will reveal a portable device this year before revealing the NX console in 2017. The portable device will not be a console. It will be a peripheral (controller or headset or something) that will work with the Wii U and NX and possibly other games consoles as well as PC’s and smart phones. Could that be the MH? Only time will tell. One thing I know for sure is that whatever Nintendo does, I won’t cry and complain like a loser, then try to convince everyone they are wrong and are doomed. LOL
