Nintendo will broadcast a general Nintendo Direct next week, it has been claimed, after anticipation around an upcoming presentation continues to circulate.
The rumbling comes from established insider Nate, who revealed that the next Nintendo Direct will be streamed “in the second week of June” in the latest episode of Nate the Hate Podcast.
“… something that is more pertinent and more immediate, and something that everyone here to listen to this episode for,” Nate’s explanation began.
“When is the first general [Nintendo] Direct of 2026? We are in the month of June, and expectations that there will be a Nintendo Direct in the near future. Do these claims have merit? When will Nintendo begin to discuss their 2026 plans after Star Fox, Rhythm Heaven and Splatoon Raiders? What does the rest of 2026 look like from Nintendo? And we’ll be getting that answer very soon, as from what I have heard, the Nintendo Direct will take place next week. The second week of June.”
He continued: “As we talked about back in March, Nintendo has a lot of games still to come this year. We still have to get a release date for Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave. We have to find out what’s happening with [The] Duskbloods. We have to find out about that [The Legend of Zelda] Ocarina of Time remake – get our first look at it, and the ambition and scope of the project.
“[We need to] see what third parties are up to with [Nintendo] Switch 2, because third-party support has definitely been ramping up over the last few months. Square Enix has just brought Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to the platform. Capcom, as we mentioned, brought Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, and more games will be coming from them to Switch 2 this year.
“We have to see what does Konami bring to Switch 2. Where is Elden Ring from Bandai Namco? We had a lot of games leak from the Korean Ratings Board and the ESRB that have not officially been announced for the Switch 2, like, going back to March, Devil May Cry 5 [Devil Hunter Edition]. So there’s a lot of games that need to be communicated for Switch 2 from third parties, and, with this Nintendo Direct coming next week, will this be the venue and platform for these announcements to take place?
“There are a lot of rumoured games that still need to be announced, like, going back to our March episode of games we discussed, from both first and third party. It’s just a matter of if it’s going to be a June [Nintendo] Direct, or will Nintendo hold some of these announcements for maybe a Direct later this year. Will 3D Mario show up at this Direct, or will that be something that Nintendo withholds from 2026?”
He added: “At the end of the day, it is a June Direct, and we know Nintendo likes to hold a Direct around September, pretty annually, so it all depends on really how they want to approach this Direct that is basically starting the Switch [2]’s second year.
“We had the earnings briefing very recently, and we know Nintendo will be raising the Switch 2 price later this year, so I can see where some would argue that Nintendo has to have a big Direct where they are selling you the system before they’re increasing that price. But at the same time, they have to sell you that system at that new $500 baseline price. How do you do that? With exciting games that are not just coming this year, but are also coming in the future. But considering the price doesn’t go up in western countries until September, you could make the argument that Nintendo could wait until that September Direct to begin to outline a little more of that 2027 line-up and future games.”
The last general Nintendo Direct was in September 2025, which had covered games such as Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, Mario Tennis Fever, Super Mario Bros. Wonder Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Hades II, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, Pokémon Pokopia, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, Resident Evil Requiem and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave.
