With Summer Game Fest 2022 well underway, many are now wondering when the next Nintendo Direct presentation will be broadcast and whether we can expect one at some point this month.
The answer to that question is apparently yes, according to former IGN presenter and journalist Alanah Pearce, who now works as a games writer at Sony Santa Monica. After live-streaming her reaction to the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022, she answered questions from those who had joined her on Twitch.
It was in direct response to a question about whether a Nintendo Direct had been announced that she shared what she had heard (timestamp: 2:00:08).
“I believe that there is a Nintendo Direct coming on [June] 29th. I don’t know that that’s been announced. You heard it here first,” Pearce stated. “Let me check what date it is, I have it written down. 29th, yeah. June 29th, Nintendo Direct. It’s not technically a leak because Nintendo didn’t tell me, which is how I make that call. But I’m also not leaking anything that’s in it, which is what I think is s****y.”
Whether what she has heard is correct or not, we’ll have to wait and see – plans, as we all know, can change.
We’d take this one with a pinch of salt as always. As per Nintendo’s investor relations calendar, Wednesday 29th June is the company’s 82nd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, and, if there is a Nintendo Direct planned in the coming weeks, it is more likely that they would want to broadcast it in advance – averting any questions from shareholders who are worried about what Nintendo has planned to maintain the momentum behind Nintendo Switch for the remainder of the year.
The last Nintendo Direct was broadcast on 9th February 2022, a 40-minute presentation that had been mainly focused on Nintendo Switch games that were launching in the first half of 2022. That had covered games such as Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, No Man’s Sky, Mario Strikers: Battle League Football, Splatoon 3, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Live A Live and Nintendo Switch Sports.
