Intelligent Systems has been busying themselves developing a new Paper Mario game for Wii U, which Nintendo are preparing to announce this year.
That’s according to five undisclosed sources corroborated by Emily Rogers, Liam Robertson and NeoGAF’s ShockingAlberto, who add that the game is currently being localised and tested.
It isn’t the first time that we have heard that the developer had an unannounced Wii U title in the works, with an employee’s LinkedIn profile and appearance in a company brochure handed out at a Japanese job fair suggesting as much.
We can presume that, if true, an announcement will be made whenever the next Nintendo Direct is planned, which will surely outline what games will be headed to Wii U over the year ahead.
Paper Mario has most recently starred in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros., We concluded in our review of the Nintendo 3DS exclusive: “With unwavering charm, this resoundingly action-packed quest for the superstar trio succeeds on all fronts. There’s little to criticise in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros., an epic collision that results in a Mushroom Kingdom mash-up of near perfection.”
The game is currently being localized and tested.
