Another day delivers yet another rumour, this time indicating that Capcom will soon reveal a new Monster Hunter game for Nintendo Switch.

This comes from reputable rumourmonger Dusk Golem, who has made the claim that the company has adapted the RE Engine so that it is compatible with the portable home console.

That engine was built for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, and has since been used for Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil Resistance as well as the upcoming Resident Evil: Village and Pragmata.

However, it doesn’t sound like it is worth getting your hopes up that Capcom will broaden the survival horror series’ catalogue on Nintendo Switch.

“I will crush one dream with my RE Engine on Switch talk: RE7, RE2 & RE3 aren’t coming to Switch,” Dusk Golem explained. “They tried to port RE7 to Switch for a while one time, but had difficulty getting any satisfactory result. RE Engine games for Switch will need to be made with Switch in mind.”

Despite the worldwide success that it achieved, it didn’t come as a particular surprise that Monster Hunter World did not come to Nintendo Switch thanks to hardware constraints.

When exploring what’s next for Monster Hunter on the portable home console, Capcom has previously expressed that it would “want to deliver the perfectly adapted game for the hardware [they] have in mind.”
