Rumour: Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered Could Release On Nintendo Switch

It has been reported that Electronic Arts is preparing to release Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered and that BioWare’s galactic space opera could eventually come to Nintendo Switch.

This comes from VentureBeat, who, after the third-party publisher had shared with investors that the company plans to release “an additional EA HD title” this financial year, revealed their belief that this was related to the Mass Effect Trilogy.

“Oh, and that HD remake of an EA game is the Mass Effect Trilogy. Just don’t expect that to also launch on Switch — at least not at first,” the publication wrote in response.

The bundled Mass Effect Trilogy was previously released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in November 2012, which had included the original Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 complete with their downloadable content.

It was certainly a far more attractive purchase than Mass Effect 3: Special Edition on Wii U, which, released at the same time, was unsurprisingly met with disappointing sales – resulting in it remaining an incomplete version that wouldn’t go on to receive all the game’s downloadable content.

In their prepared remarks, Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson had explained that they were “planning to deliver for more Nintendo fans, with multiple EA games set to launch on Nintendo Switch this year.”

Whether this remastered Mass Effect Trilogy will form part of those plans is unclear at this point, but we are likely to learn more at EA Play Live 2020 next month.

Since Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017, the third-party publisher has supported Nintendo Switch with Burnout Paradise RemasteredFeFIFA 18FIFA 19FIFA 20 Legacy Edition and Unravel Two.
