With L.A. Noire presenting the chance to expose the dark criminal heart of post-war Los Angeles on Nintendo Switch, a rumour that is circulating has suggested that Grand Theft Auto V could also soon see release on the portable home console.

When someone complained that Rockstar Games had chosen to port L.A. Noire to Nintendo Switch rather than Grand Theft Auto V, NeoGAF user Vern, who had accurately predicted that blockbuster detective thriller would see release on console, replied: “Patience.”

That was enough to send speculation and excitement into overdrive, but Vern has since stepped in to clear up what he meant with such tease.

His “most reliable source” has indicated that Rockstar Games is working on porting a game to Nintendo Switch that won’t come as a particular surprise, and, considering that it has sold more than 80 million copies worldwide, Vern’s educated guess is that Grand Theft Auto V is the most likely game.

“Been sitting on this cuz I’m not sure it’s really worthy of a post (because I lack the most important details) but f*** it, why not… heard awhile back more from R* is in development, from my most reliable source, but wouldn’t confirm what or when,” Vern explained on NeoGAF.

“Essentially was told it shouldn’t be a surprise what title it is. I personally fully expect a GTA title (whatever it may be) because it makes sense since you see everyone clamouring for it in every damn thread, and it’s the biggest game on Earth.

“Now watch this post get turned into YouTube videos and GoNintendo news articles again when I said nothing at all of [any] actual substance. For real this is in no way confirming a GTAV port is coming, it’s just my solid as f*** source giving me some info and my own educated guessing.

“Probably shouldn’t have said anything because I have nothing, and in 6 months or a year when another R* title gets announced I can claim I was right. So just ignore what I said somehow. I blew it. ”

You may remember that there was a time when reports had suggested that Grand Theft Auto V had been prototyped on Wii U before a decision was made to shelve it after the console failed to gain enough traction with consumers.
