Another week looks set to pass without any Nintendo NX news, but it has provided us with more rumours to carefully ponder over.

That sees Emily Rogers share rumblings that Nintendo is working on a “weird, fun and crazy” new IP that is unlike anything that they have ever created before. Encouraged by the worldwide success that Splatoon has received, this game will look to similarly captivate rather than aiming to be an instantly accessible game such as Wii Sports.

“New IP coming to NX from one of Nintendo’s teams in Japan,” Rogers shared. “Described as weird, fun and crazy. ‘Nintendo doesn’t have another game like this.’ It isn’t trying to be Nintendo’s next Wii Sports. It’s trying to be next Splatoon. Remember how weird Splatoon looked when you first saw it?”

As for third-party publishers, Ubisoft and Take-Two Interactive have spoken positively about Nintendo NX, while The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Just Dance 2017, Dragon Quest 10 and Dragon Quest 11 from Square Enix, and SEGA’s Project Sonic 2017 are so far confirmed for release.
