Update: Paul Gale Network have added further weight behind such rumblings, revealing that Castlevania: Mirror of Fate has been in development for a year and a half.

It features a duo of playable characters, and was originally planned to incorporate co-operative play across both Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Although, Konami have now chosen to release a Castlevania: Lords of Shadow sequel for Wii U instead.

Mirror of Fate sees a return to a 2D gameplay experience and is to utilise the Nintendo 3DS’ camera, the forward-facing lens acting as a mirror whereas the outward-facing lens will be used to introduce a puzzle-solving mechanic.

Original Story: Konami are to unveil Castlevania: Mirror of Fate for Nintendo 3DS at E3 this year, Dutch website N1ntendo report.

Such news was shared in the publisher’s E3 schedule, noting that David Cox and Enric Alvarez, who previously worked on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, were involved.

It has also been spotted that Konami have recently registered a domain under the same title.

“I would say wrong end of the stick….misinformed. I would also say the truth is ALWAYS better than fiction!”, Cox responded to the rumour on social media site Twitter. He later added, “Oops, sorry not going to (cannot) comment on rumour or speculation at his point.”

Whether this is in fact a console sequel to the critically received Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, or indeed a Nintendo 3DS exclusive, remains to be seen.

  1. More Castlevania is always a good thing in my book and with Mirror of Fate and Lords of Shadows 2 being spread out over 3DS, Wii U, and other platforms (for the latter of the two), it looks as though Konami is set out to please all of its different fans.

E3 is a mere 2 weeks away and I’m really looking forward to seeing more of these two. Thank you for sharing your interest in both titles.
